Lacerta can degauss, inspect and recondition usable stocks such as overproduction and returns for re-use by the owner. Products such as video cassettes, audio cassettes and diskettes can thus be re-used or sold as recycled stocks.
Lacerta can de-gauss and return material to the owner or destroy data on the premises. Lacerta's premises are equipped with an alarm system, closed circuit cameras, metal detectors at all entrance/exits and a security guard during working hours. As a matter of policy, management approval is required for product to be released or removed from the premises. Customer representatives are welcome on site to witness data destruction.
Lacerta recovers materials by de-manufacturing finished products due to over production, recalls, rejects, obsolete media formats or products and excess inventory, and making recovered materials ready for re-use or manufacturing in other applications such as fibers, furniture and packaging materials. Recoverable materials include, but are not limited to:
| Polycarbonate (PC) | |
| Polystyrene (PS) | |
| Polyester (PET) | |
| Polypropylene (PP) | |
| Polyethylene (PE) | |
| ABS |
RECOVERING MATERIALS FOR REUSE/DE-MANUFACTURING:
Lacerta has been working with DuPont since 1994 to recycle magnetic media tape and products and recover polyester, chromium dioxides and ferric oxides. The company's current and planned facilities will address the need to recycle and reduce magnetic media waste in North America. Lacerta has developed the technology and capability to separate the coating materials from the polyester base film in an environmentally sound process, and recover both materials for reuse. Lacerta projects that up to 40 million pounds per year of tape, housings and other materials can be eliminated from the waste stream.
For more information on magnetic tape recovery, go to DuPont.
